This is a French WW1 boot knife. The pattern is called "The avenger of 1870" referring to the humiliation the French recieved at the hands of the Prussians in 1870.
These knives were captured in large numbers by the Germans in 1940 and re-used by the WH and SS. This knife comes from captured WH-stocks.
Knife is in excellent condition with the crossgraining intact. It has a sheet steel scabbard with a riveted belt loop. Ricasso marked "SGCE".  $ 375,-
